If you were to watch endless credit card commercials you might begin to wonder "what is in your wallet" or "how can I possibly live without this card?" Such are the marketing come-ons in this multibillion dollar per year industry. Still, if you were able to navigate through the hype, you just may discover that a credit card could improve your life. Read on and we'll explore how a credit card could positively impact the way that you live.
If you think
that I am going to suggest that you become very reckless with a credit card,
then I must disappoint you. A credit card can be a danger, especially if you
are not consumer savvy, but it can be a useful tool for consumers too. Here are some
positive attributes to getting a credit card: You can
save money. Yes, if you use your card wisely, you could buy what you
need now and pay for it later. This works for the consumer who pays off his
or her card on a monthly basis. If you don't, then interest fees can eat up
your savings within a month or two. You can be safe. Carrying
a wad of cash in your wallet is both dangerous and foolish. You could lose
the money or you could get robbed; if someone swipes your credit card then
simply notify the credit card provider who will then put a hold on your
account and issue a new card to you. You get buyer protection.
Purchase a product with cash and you may have little recourse if it should
break or wear out immediately. Purchase that same item with a credit card
and the credit card company can give to you a full credit and withhold the
funds from the merchant. You can
accumulate rewards. If you use your credit card a lot and you pay it off
every month, then a rewards card can be a huge benefit to you. Within a
year's time you may be able to accumulate enough points to redeem for:
airline tickets, a free hotel stay, savings on a car rental, a credit to
your account, even a nice fat check for you to spend on what you want. You can stay better organized.
With a credit card, you can track purchases with ease through your monthly
statement. Most providers also will give to you online access to your
current account so that you can track and make payments as well as to check
on balances. So, if you
are the responsible type who manages his or her money carefully, then a credit
card is always right for you. Even the average consumer can benefit if he or
she is disciplined and does not let credit card balances spin out of control.
